Korean with a Nordic Twist!

The Copenhagen Kimchi Festival is an annual event, that since 2014, has been organized by the Copenhagen Kimchi Festival Association in collaboration with the Korean Embassy in Denmark and Korea Klubben, the Association of Korean Adoptees.

The Festival takes place every year in June from Friday to Sunday. The Festival offers a wide range of events, from food demos and workshops, free tastings and take away to dance and music performances, quiz competitions and K-beauty.

Although the festival aims at introducing Korean food culture more generally, the primary focus is on Kimchi, as it makes the Korean cuisine immediately recognizable and very distinctive from other Asian kitchens while its taste and fermentation process can easily be combined with Nordic food traditions.

Each festival has been very successful and attracted an increasing number of visitors, widespread media exposure in Denmark and Korea in addition to creating unique experiences for visitors of all ages and awareness of the Korean cuisine among chefs and food professionals.

In 2020, the festival was canceled due to Covid-19 and this year it will be held online for safety precautions. We look forward to a live event next year 2022.

The mission of Copenhagen Kimchi Festival is to create a platform for promoting interest in and knowledge of Korean food and culture in Denmark, as well as encouraging mutual inspiration between the Korean and Nordic cuisine.

Copenhagen Kimchi Festival is a non-for-profit organization, independent of political, religious and commercial interests and relies on volunteers only.
